U 11's v Fishguard 23rd Sept 2018

Boys of Llangwm rise this day.

A leader to be chosen to lead this band of mighty warriors.
Winner of matches reaver of men. He that curbs attacking teams through presence alone.
Strong in faith, strong in arm one and all.
For today we travel to enemy old.
Abergwaun.
No shelter no place to hide on the chosen rectangle.
On that field boys dress their battle line.
A cold wind whips around them pulling at their fear.
Throats constrict, vision sharpens, breathing deep fear pushed aside.
For here they come like harsh yelping waves over land.
I watched fierce boys in two war bands clash.
No quarter asked no quarter given.
Two war bands tearing at each other.
Flesh, bone, muscle and sinew stretched and torn as two mighty war bands fight for supremacy.
At battles end bodies broken and mangled.
Cries cruel and agonised mingled with exultant cheers drift across the field.
For the victor the spoils.
For Llangwm a long trip home. The bitter taste of defeat lingering long.
Llangwm U11’s today travelled to Fishguard. Under bright skies with a strong wind two equally matched teams lined up fo a titanic battle. Over the last 4 years these two teams have partaken in some epic battles and the winning team has never won by more than two tries. Confident after a strong win last week Llangwm were in high spirits. But from the off they quickly found themselves in the back foot. Some strong attacking rugby by Fishguard into the wind stretched the Llangwm defences. But the first five minutes proved to much for this Llangwm team and Fishguard found themselves two tries up. However this spurred this Llangwm side on and they soon found their stride. Some bruising runs from Rhys and George N into the heart of the Fishguard defence laid the foundation for sone of our speedsters to stretch their legs. In particular William Harries who raced around and through the Fishguard defence to score our first try. 2-1 at half time. However from the kick off Llangwm were again caught napping and Fishguard again scored to lightening quick tries. But to give the boys their credit they stuck to the task in hand and a blistering burst of speed saw Oscar round the Fishguard defence and score. 4-2 the final score and another tense right between these two teams.
Man of the match William Harries. He led both in attack where his blistering speed saw him terrorise the Fishguard defence. But he was brave in defence as well.
Well done to all. Back to earth with a considerable bang this week. But we will re group and go again next week.
