U12's v Narberth 6th. Oct 2924.

Mighty performance by the Mighty U12s Wasps 🐝 down Pill Parks this morning. The rain lubricated the young hearts and minds and they were on a single mission, and that mission was to give it all and leave nothing on the pitch. Although their coach was on mandatory training, the team could feel their coach prompt - ‘keep it simple and give it 100% to the end’. That’s what they did!
Full time: Llangwm 24 - Narberth 22
Bit of a delayed start as Narberth didn’t have a coach so thanks a million to Simon Preddy for stepping in at the very last minute. Great job reffing, kids learned a lot.
Narberth started fast and quickly crossed our try line but were driven out of bounds. The Wasps regained possession and within 5 mins Kaizer scored a try after a powerful run, also converted, 7-0. After a few minutes, Olly D said he wanted a bit of that and went over after another long run. 12-0, kids were smiling! Narberth were initially shocked, but gathered themselves together and scored two good tries before half time. Half time score 12-12, anyone’s game!
Narberth scored quickly into the second half and crept ahead to 12-17. The mighty Wasps kept up the fight, strong simple rugby but due to a few missed tackles, the Otters stretched the lead to 12-22.
The team lost focus, started to squabble a little amongst themselves but after some strong words, they soon reunited - one team - Mighty Wasps. 20 mins into the second half, Kaizer powered through to score and also convert. The belief was back! Narberth lost structure under the Llangwm pressure. 19-22, one more score needed!
Olly D lost his shoe, would he stop to put it on? Hell no, he and all the team wanted this, it was theirs. One minute to go and the Otters were penalised under Wasps pressure, Bobby took the penalty quickly and was over the line before Narberth knew! Llangwm victory, 24-22.
We mentioned the try scorers but the whole team were outstanding today in difficult conditions. One parent said ‘that’s the team she remembers’, great stuff!
Special mention to Rhydian & Dougie who played their first U12s game today, really impressive, wow! Also special thanks to Iolo, U11s for playing up a year with the U12s - great game today.
The Wasps believed they could win today. Playing with only one shoe, not knowing the score on the final whistle, not getting wound up by Natberth’s silly tactics, saying that Teamwork won the game, enjoying all the game, smiling - all these observations are signs of a mature team that worked together and gave it all, well done you! 💪🐝
Thanks to those who helped out in the stand. Thanks again Simon for reffing. Thanks Paul for coaching. Thanks Adam for agreeing the game although you knew you’d be absent. You would have smiled with pride! The mighty Wasps spirit was there today!
