U8's v Milford Haven 29th Jan 2023

LLANGWM WASPS U8s V MILFORD HAVEN U8s

This Sunday saw our Mighty U8s travel to Milford Haven where we were warmly welcomed and directed to their 3G artifical pitches.

With 13 Mighty U8 Llangwm players eager to play, and the same number of players from Milford Haven, we were able to run two U8s games alongside each other. This ensured that everyone played a full match with no requirement for substitutions. As in previous weeks, we played four 10-minute quarters.

With the great conditions provided underfoot by the 3G pitch, both games were going to see free-flowing running rugby, something our Mighty U8s are magnificent at!

Building on the positives of last weekends game against Fishguard, players are continuing to show huge improvements as the season progresses. Players are developing their own unique skills, with jinxing and dancing runs from some, direct and powerful ball carrying from others, and covering play from others to ensure we're chasing down every tag right to the last. Everyone is playing their part. There are just so many positives to talk about from this mornings matches which I couldn't possibly do justice in a short write-up here.

What is also being seen is that players are applying what they are learning in training in match conditions. Players are pressing forward and putting the opposition under pressure when we're in defence and in attack our running with the ball was far more direct, allowing us to gain greater ground to the try-line and turn these into try scoring sets of play.

Their understanding of the game has really improved and there's a greater appreciation of what is required of each player, which is allowing them to come together and perform as a team.

What's really important is that every player left the field with huge smiles on thier faces, and whilst the scores saw Milford Haven take a narrow win in both games, our Mighty Langwm Wasps remained in contention throughout all four quarters of each match, and only narrowly missed out on wins in both matches.

We're all very proud of our Mighty U8s and they deserve credit for the improvements they are making. At the final whistle, cheers were raised for the opposition and tunnels were formed. It was then off to the clubhouse where the sausage burger refreshments were eagily devoured by hungry players who had really given it their all over the previous 40mins of play. Well done Mighty U8s!

Your Mighty Llangwm Wasps across the two games today were:
