U13's v Pembroke Dock RFC. 14th Nov 2024.

The mighty Llangwm u13’s travelled to the Quinn’s today for a game in good conditions considering what storm Bert had brought to Pembrokeshire this weekend so massive thanks to the Quinn’s for getting the game on!
The Quinn’s unfortunately only had 10 players available but the wasps had 20 so after giving the Quinn’s 5 of our players we could get a full 15 v 15 game on, a massive thanks to Ollie H, Morgan, George, Harry and Louie for going across to help them, with both George and Harry on the other side it meant we were without a captain and the player to fill in those shoes is someone who had excelled this season in both his play and his attitude….. so Stan made a brilliant choice as our leader on the pitch 💪🐝
The game kicked off and the Llangwm players on the Quinn’s side made a difference straight away and they were on the front foot but once the wasps got themselves together it was one way traffic, Spencer making a holes every where and he now has a telepathic link with another player in Isaac who is always a willing recipient of Spencer’s offloads, these two boys work brilliant together and have formed a great combination.
Rowan got the ball rolling with two great tries and both were down to Jack Riley and his aggressive running making the space and good offloads. The wasps were in the ascendancy but the defence couldn’t relax and that defence was led today by Ashton, Ashton tackled like an absolute hero today and was hurt a few times but still got up and kept ploughing forward. Llangwm were seeing plenty of the ball in the middle and it was controlled brilliantly by Noah Ev’s who ran the show at 10 in the first half and a great long pass out by him to Rowan gave Rowan the opportunity to get his hat trick under the posts. Seth then got in the act and showed great pace out wide to get his first of the game and after a mishap from a Quinn’s breakdown the most alert was Ryan who carried at least 10 meters and at one point had 3 Quinn’s players hanging off him!! The boys were going great guns and after a steal by Noah D the ball went back out wide through the ever busy Mason who played at 13 and bounced players all day Rowan got his fourth!
Half time…… the score was almost irrelevant but the boys needed to keep their shape and focus, the players that played across cane back and they were replaced by Bailey who once again showed his prowess at the line out with great deliveries, Jack Riley who put his hand up and then immediately regretted it 😂 Isaac who tackled the hell out of the Llangwm players, Noah Ev’s who let’s be fair should have scored for the Quinn’s but ended up begging Seth to tackle him when clean through 🫣 and Spencer who then begged an ever improving Carwyn to run at him and subsequently ended up smashing Spencer out the way that drew gasps from the llangwm supporters!!
The second half saw a determined Ollie H grab two great tries from one good individual run and one great support run after good work by Rowan and Mason. The wasps kept piling forward with Harry now back at 10 his communication with the outstanding Albert really shined through, Albert once again showed his dominance at 9 and why he’s a class act there with unbelievable tackles and great distribution 💪Rowan got another but it was his intricate passing with Stan and unselfishness allowing Stan to get his well deserved try showed that it’s a real team effort and a proper team spirit!
Now with the immovable force that is Louie back on the right side always being that willing carrier and ably assisted by George who’s voice is never far from the front line it got into Seth’s hands to finish off what was a great team try. It was starting to get a little farcical with Quinn’s confidence shot and llangwm attacking at will and one player who deserved a try was Ollie E who got into great positions but couldn’t quite get that touch of luck to get over the line and with now Morgan back in our side the breakdown was a safer place with him about and I don’t think Quinn’s even got into our half in the second half and with a few minutes remaining the Quinn’s called full time. Llangwm 60 Quinn’s 0
It’s always hard giving another team 5 players and trying to execute a game plan but the boys did a fantastic job whether for us or against us!!
They showed once again how much natural ability they have and made the game look easy at times with slick hands and good tackling. A big test next week awaits but the boys are ready and if we bring our A game then it’s there’s for the taking 🐝
Huge thanks to the support and players today, to have 20 available is outstanding and we can’t wait to welcome back Jac and Nico from injury hopefully next week.
Thanks everybody, see you at training on Friday 🐝
And everyone took turns at conversions….. some good….. some not so great 😂 but we hope the boys enjoyed that experience!
