U13's v Fishguard 6th. Oct 2024.

The u13s travelled west today to meet Fishguard on a wet and wind swept pitch. In the first couple of minutes some poor handling meant we were under pressure before we could Influence the game, camped in our 22 Fishguard knocked on the door and kept coming. Some valiant defending soon gave way and Fishguard crossed for a try.
Unfortunately the first 10 minutes continued in the same vain and we were 21 nil down before the boys could catch their breath, some decisions went against us and this was to continue throughout the game. 😫
The team then sparked into life and put some phases of play together showing to the opposistion that we had come to play. The boys piled on the pressure until Noah E crossed the try line with his twinkling footwork, a ray of light maybe?
Fishguard restarted and were once again on the front foot and continued to capitalise on mistakes, they had some new faces who made a real difference to their attack. They crossed for another couple of tries. 31 v 5.
But one thing we have learnt about this Llangwm team is they will battle until the last whistle, some good link up play form the forwards and backs enabled us to make our way down the field and put pressure back on Fishguard defence, Spencer at the centre of the driving Maul gained metres and Ollie H crossed the try line after a fantastic move.
Fishguard again pounced on a mistake and crossed for a soft try. The team just could not get any momentum going.
Harry showed fantastic instinct touching the ball at the base of the post after another good move from the wasps.
The game then went back and forth with some good play from both teams but Fishguard had the edge again and crossed for another couple of tries. Spencer responded in the only way he could with a big physical run crossing for our final try.
To say today was frustrating is an understatement, from dropped balls and reffing decisions that left us as coaches and supporters scratching our heads ( and that’s being incredibly kind) it was one of those games that got away too early and we never could recover from, the team were great in patches, but consistency is what we all have to aim for, things I personally believe went against us today but on a positive note without playing anywhere near our best we managed to notch up 21 points away from home to a very good Fishguard side who have shown great improvement since we last met.

Again I would just like to thank everyone who came to support today, as I said a highly frustrating day for many reasons, please let us as coaches address issues that we see on the pitch, I know it’s frustrating, but as a club we could suffer consequences if this isn’t the case. your support is what makes this little village club very special indeed. Onwards and definitely upwards.
