Youth v Vadre 23rd Nov 2024.

Vadre match report

Saturday was another game for the Wasps under atrocious weather conditions at Vadre. After initially starting well with strong carrying from Jens and Sinky with James heavily involved,our discipline had dropped off with too many penalties, specifically high tackles and not offsides being given away at the start of the game.Despite a lack of possession we put in a solid defensive shift in the first half of the game only conceding 2 tries against Vadre. Scorer for Wasps was sinky and the Half time score was 12-5 to Vadre.

After changes at half time we started the second half. After getting back into game with a try from the restart from Alfie we then continued to make unforced errors and missed tackles enable Vadre to get a foothold into our half. From a scrum near the 22 Vadre scored, due to people trying to tackle too high. Looking for more points and from a splash set play from Oscar the bounce off the rugby ball ruined the play.There are small positives to take away from this game with as we created opportunities but a simple pass didn't go to hand or putting another player into space was the better option.Final score being 17-12

Although this was a disappointing result for us and a game we should have won, there were points in the game where we was looking dangerous, as we were beginning to be able to string phases of play together and create try scoring opportunities.
