Good evening everyone. This morning your U12’s travelled the short distance down Pembroke road to Haverfordwest RFC. For us, this is always a tough fixture but to be fair to the boys, they are always up for this local body bashing derby! We travelled with just 12 players due to sickness and holidays but we were very grateful to H/west for lending us three players to ensure the game was played 15 aside. From the off, H/west we’re on the front foot, but struggled to break through the mighty Llangwm wall. For the first 20 minutes, our defence was solid and organised. We were constantly under the cosh but stood strong and spirited. Twice the blues were held up over the line and at times were forced backwards through great defensive line speed. Unfortunately we couldn’t quite keep up the power and a few little cracks started to appear under the pressure and the blues were now building momentum on the score board. Into half time and Llangwm were trailing by 20 points to nil. The second half saw the high efforts by Llangwm continue. Huge tackles from Kyzer were enjoyed by the crowd, along with Dougie and Oscar who also put their mark on the game. It was lovely to hear encouragement from our players, strong words from our vice Captain Gethin kept morale high. I don’t often praise my boy in public, but I must say that I thought Tom had a great game today. He won many a turnover, tackled hard, drove players over the sidelines and led as a captain brilliantly. Our defensive line speed was much better today. Our backs of Kyzer, Griff and Bobby did well charging forward. Three times they forced a knock on from simple pressure and getting into their faces. Harley-Jay had a top game out on the wing even though not a lot of ball went his way. Travis and Rhydian both had brilliant games and are improving every week. Ollie Davies was yet again Mr Consitant… big driving runs, lethal tackles and solid at the breakdown. Charlie did a cracking job at full back, he’s really growing and understanding his position now. I really can’t explain enough the sheer guts and determination that came from these bunch of boys today. They fronted up massively to a superb team in Haverfordwest. The Llangwm boys played with a never die attitude, and every single one of them arguably had their best game this season so far. It seems a crazy thing to write when the final score was 52-0, but these boys had huge praise from their opposite coaches and parents. I’m still receiving messages now from H/west people on how well we played considering we are a team that are re building and in a developing stage. Haverfordwest must be applauded for some of the play they produced today. The work through their backs was a pleasure to watch which made our job all the harder. One of the Haverfordwest boys that very sportingly came over and played for us in the first half unfortunately went to hospital with a broken arm. Everyone from Llangwm U12’s wish him a speedy recovery. Honestly boys, I meant what I said after the game. You ALL gave it everything you had and some. There’s way more positives than negatives from that game which will improve us massively. Hold your heads high, stick your chests out because you were all Llangwm warriors out there today. Hugely proud of your efforts and the way you all conducted yourselves. ππ Massive thanks to the travelling support crew. Your all immense β€οΈ Team Gethin (vc) Oscar, Rhidian, Tom (capt) Ollie D, Dougie, Bobby, Kyzer, Griff (vc), Harley-Jay, Travis, Charlie See you all Wednesday ππͺ
