U12's v Pembroke 21st. Apr. 2024

The awesome Llangwm u12’s welcomed Pembroke today to an absolutely glorious Pill Parks for 50 minutes of pulsating rugby played in front of a good crowd. Pembroke are last seasons beaten finalists and once again are contesting the final this year so it’s always a tough game against a good side like these.
Pembroke started the brightest and were using there quick defence to keep the wasps back, we were having trouble getting out our own 22 and Pembroke kept on the pressure to give themselves a comfortable 3 try advantage. We were struggling to get any foot hold in the game but the wasps then started to come alive and match Pembroke to physically, then speedster Rowan managed to break the shackles of Pembroke to dart down the right wing to open our account. The wasps were making some in roads into the Pembroke half but a poorly executed kick by Harry resulted in another try for Pembroke. But the half ended much better for us when after a knock on by Pembroke who expected the whistle to be blown the very alert Jac LLewellyn gathered the ball and fixed his defender and gave a lovely pass out to Rowan who was not for stopping and gave Llangwm the perfect end to the half.
The second half saw llangwm come out the blocks firing and after a good restart Stan absolutely nailed the opposition player and this helped Rowan find space to give us the perfect start. Llangwm kept the pressure up and with Spencer and Louie making hard yards and Carwyn carrying his way forward like a trooper the ball found it’s way through the backs with Harry and Ollie who then gave Noah a little space that he made a big space with a lovely hand off he found himself one on one with the Pembroke full back and Noah being the box of tricks he is put a beautiful grubber kick beyond the full back and did him for pace now all that matters is the bounce of the ball and it looked like it was going to bounce straight into Noah’s waiting hands but that final bounce took it away from him but luckily Rowan was there to give the ball another tap on with the foot and Noah regathered the ball and finished brilliantly in the corner! It was a brilliant try and it had the crowd roaring! 26-26 come on lads keep going! Unfortunately the wasps a bit like our game against Tenby couldn’t sustain the pressure and let some easy tries in with the wasps having to commit multiple players to tackles thus leaving space out for Pembroke to exploit. Pembroke eventually got away from us and the final score was Llangwm 26 Pembroke 52
It was a brilliant effort again from the lads, they never stopped or gave up, Pembroke are a quality outfit but the wasps are becoming better against these good teams, that gap at the top is now starting to close, we we’re blown away 49-0 at the start of the season by them but today we held them to 26 all with only 15 minutes left so it just goes to show how much Llangwm are improving and this young team will be even better next season 🐝πŸ’ͺ
We are really proud of you all today, it was tough going at some points but you never shirked or hid away, you fronted up brilliantly and you should all be proud of your efforts
A massive thanks to Laura, Mel, Tara, Nicola, Jason and Suzanne for your efforts in the clubhouse today, we are all proud of the work you do for us ❀️
