The amazing Llangwm u13’s welcomed Saint David’s to a beautifully sunny Pill Parks this morning, the weather was good and so was the rugby. Saints travelled with only 13 players which affected our plans but they should be applauded for travelling down with a small squad to get the game fulfilled. The first 10 minutes was a frightening display of individual brilliance and pure aggression from the wasps and they raced into a 28-0 lead thanks to the powerhouse Spencer, two from our phenomenal number 8 in Mason and most importantly for us our stand in hooker in Bailey, Bailey stepped up in George’s absence and grabbed his chance with literally both hands and after a well worked lineout move orchestrated by Louie and a good pass by Mason it was Bailey that found himself in acres of space down the blindside and crossed over for his very first try in a wasp shirt! All the boys came flying over to congratulate Bailey and his hard work in training is now paying off ❤️ Saint were struggling against the yellow and black tide that was rushing at them and another from mason and the brilliantly supporting Ollie E who gathered a loose ball and got his second try in a wasps shirt! Half time 40-0 to the wasps 😀 Nothing really to say to the boys at half time but keep the pressure up, and one man who kept that pressure up was Jack Riley who made his debut for us today after playing for several years for another club but his impact was immediate when he made a ferocious tackle that stunned the boys and myself included! Jack brought heart and desire to his game and gave the wasps plenty of go forward. Seth then got his customarily try when showing fantastic pace out wide to burn off the defence, then made his first points off the tee when converting his own try despite slipping on his backside when taking it! 🤣 Saints in all fairness kept trying to play and were rewarded with a good try with there outstanding number 8 Billy slipping plenty of Llangwm tackles to cross over. This don’t stop the wasps momentum as next up crashing over was Louie who again is such a willing carrier and got his just rewards with a very well deserved try. And then a thing of beauty….. you wait years for one and then two come along and it was Bailey again who supported spencer superbly and got his second in a wasps shirt!!! Confidence is a fantastic thing and now Bailey is brimming with it 💛 Mason finished the game off with his fourth and the saints asked for the whistle with several players down. Final score Llangwm 64 Saint David’s 5 A good effort from all the boys today, a few played slightly out of position due to players away but they all embraced it like the hero’s they are, Saints only having 13 scupperd us slightly with our plans but we tried to get as much game time as possible into the boys and they all took there chance to shine. Huge congratulations to Bailey on his first tries for Llangwm and to Jack R for an outstanding debut as well. Tougher tests await for this Llangwm team but they continue to grow and develop and are now right up there with the best 💛 A massive thanks to the parents and supporters today and a huge thanks to Mel and Nicola who manned the stand and fed the masses tea and coffee and of course sold sweet cones that were made by our parents to help with the costs of our trip to Devon for our tour ❤️ and also Laura, Sarah, Jason and Suzanne for keeping the club house running for all the kids afterwards, it’s always really appreciated 💛 if I’ve missed anyone I’m truly sorry, this is a great bunch of lads and as always a brilliant set of supportive parents that make this team what it is….. a family 🐝 Thanks everybody, see you Friday for training in preparation for Haverfordwest next week 😊 Team: Louie, Bailey, Carwyn, Isaac, Ryan, Spencer, Stan, Mason, Albert, Harry, Ollie H, Nico, Ollie E, Jac, Noah, Jack R, Seth, Ashton, Tries: Mason 4, Bailey (legend) 2, Louie 1, Spencer 1, Ollie E 1, Seth 1 Conversions: Harry 3, Ollie H 3, Seth 1 Final score: Llangwm 64 Saint David’s 5
