On Saturday Llangwm youth welcomed Tumble down to Pill Parks for our first match in the national shield. After a disappointing showing last time out against Tenby the boys were ready to set it right this time. And it showed with us starting well and scoring early on after a line break from Oscar Willington resulted in a chance for Liam Miller who capitalised on the lack of awareness from the Tumble defence. Tumble quickly fired back though, scoring under our posts after a backs move off of their line out took an advantage of a gap in our defence making the score 7-5 to Tumble. The rest of the half saw exciting rugby played from both sides with excellent defence to match, with both teams pushing to get over that try line again. Ultimately though Tumble pushed through to end the half two tries ahead of the Wasps. We started the second half much like the first, with Liam Miller crashing over again to put us back within touching distance. With our heads held high we were all determined to turn the game around but unfortunately it didn’t pan out like so. With many stoppages throughout the second half due to fights breaking out it was difficult for us to find our rhythm again and with sloppy mistakes being made Tumble capitalised pulling the gap further ahead. Ultimately Tumble finished the game on top and advance through to the next round. There was much improvement from the Tenby game and us boys should be proud of ourselves, we knew this game wasn’t going to be easy against a strong side but we put up a good fight righting the wrongs we made two weeks prior, this is definitely something to improve on and hopefully we can carry this momentum into boxing day against Haverford. Match Report written by Joe Johns and I nominate Tom Rickwood to write the next one.
