Neyland Youth vs Llangwm Youth

Last night the first Llangwm Youth team in many years made the trip to Neyland for their opening game of the season and what a cracker it was! The huge commitment shown by both teams will have the made the coaches and clubs very proud.

Playing up the slope Llangwm started with pace and some outstanding forward drives, making yards and offloading to keep momentum going. Llangwm camped in the Neyland half for much of the first quarter with forwards and backs combining searching for the first points but excellent tackling and defence from Neyland kept them from scoring. Neyland continued the strong defence and won good turn over ball which lead to two break away try’s using quick hands and pace on the wings to go round the Llangwm defence to make the score 14-0. From the kick off Llangwm returned to the Neyland 22 and with strong drives from forwards and backs to set up the platform for excellent scrum half Iwan Davies to score in the corner. His touchline conversion made the score 14-7 at half time.

Neyland started the second half strongly with good center play which set up field position to enable the forwards to drive over for the score to make it 21-7. The second half continued to be played at pace with both sides making huge hits. With time running out Llangwm Captain, Arwyn O’Loughlin, secured the ball to feed full back Harry Makepeace who made good yards out wide before supplying the scoring pass to the supporting O’Loughlin to finish an excellent move.

Final score Neyland 21-12 Llangwm. Cracking effort from the all the Lads and a promising start to their youth season!
