U12's v St Clears/Whitland 12th Oct 2024.

Hello there sports fans!
This morning your mighty U12’s welcomed a mixed team consisting of Whitland and
St Clears to the fortress that we call Pill Parks!
We ourselves, had the privilege yet again of having 5 quality players from Llangwm U11’s join us due to them not having a fixture.
With both teams being at full strength, we knew this was going to be a cracker!
St Whit started the strongest, and were soon on the score board through some nice attacking plays .
Llangwm didn’t let a slow start distract them, and were soon back pumping the ball up the middle through our mighty forwards.
Some lovely off loading saw Kyzer find some space and it was a clear sprint under the posts, which he also converted.
St Whit played some nice rugby, and did their best to bring there wingers into play, but nothing was getting past the Griffmeister today.
This boy produced several try saving tackles! Machine!!
The game continued to be a ding dong affair and credit to the visitors, they managed to sneak through to score just on half time.
The mid break talk was that we had to be quicker at the rucks, defensive line speed has to be quicker, and to run forward with more intent.
The second half saw a more energetic Llangwm side, with harder runs, gaining more ground.
A penalty to Llangwm 15 yards out saw Bobby ‘Twinkle toes’ Ashton, think quick on his feet…. A Sharp tap and go… cheeky little dance round their defence and over the try line!
Again the mighty wasps kept pushing forward. A quick pass from a ruck out to Kyzer who made 30 yards, and laid a lovely off load to the supporting Griff who eased over the white wash to put the home team ahead.
Credit to St Whit, they didn’t stop in terms of effort, they continued to work hard and deservedly got themselves another try.
10 mins to go… it’s neck and neck!
Llangwm we’re holding onto possession more now, pressing forward with more classy off loads and strong direct runs.
A scrum awarded to Llangwm just inside the visitors half.
Ollie Davies was playing at number 8 today and had been playing well.
His confidence was high.
The big man fancied it! He could see the try line. Nothing but determination across his face.
Ball comes to his feet at the base of the scrum, he takes a breath, gathers the ball, and simply goes for it. Driving and smashing through the St Whit defence, clattering through like a bulldozer on steroids, absolutely nothing was going to stop this incredible unit!
TRY TIME!!  💪💪
He puts Llangwm in front with 5 to play. The crowd were going mental!!
The visitors… well let’s just say they were slightly upset and frustrated.
Their act of fowl language towards the referee on more than one occasion, resulted in their coach and a player sent to the side lines.
St Whit got a little more worked up in the final minutes, but I’m happy to report that our young men didn’t rise to their behaviour. Instead they focused on their rugby and saw the game out in a  very classy manner. 👏👏
Final score…
Llangwm 24 - St Whit 17.
A very well deserved win by the mighty wasps!
A special mention must be said of Charlie. This boy played out of his skin today. Full of energy, solid runs, massive tackles, making turnovers and covering the width of the pitch at fullback!
Superb Charlie boy!! 🙌🙌
A big Llangwm welcome goes to Iolo who has joined us recently.
Great to have you on board mate!
Massive massive thanks to Hamish for doing a fantastic job as referee. He’s more than fair to both sides, gave warnings when needed and handled the abuse very calmly!!!
I think I may have used up all my referee tokens now!! 🙈🤣
Thank you big man!
Huge thanks to Toni, Ian and Cathrine for feeding all the hungry players.
And obviously a massive thanks to the loud and proud support crew.
