Sunday 4th July, first match following Covid restrictions.

The mighty Llangwm wasps u9’s welcomed Tenby to Pill Parks this morning on a wet and drizzly morning for 3x15 minute halves of great rugby. We started off well against a side with a couple of big players and traded some early tries with them. Our tackling was so much better today and our trademark offloads are coming along nicely which stood us in good stead against a well drilled team like Tenby. Unfortunately we did give the ball away cheaply at times and gave up territory a points with some mis judged passes and lapses in concentration, but that didn’t stop Lyra scoring another great try with her power and pace, Hamish who was captain for the game led by example from the front and to go with his great tackles scored another power packed try, Jac James got his usual fast pace try and he was joined by mason who got on the score sheet despite suffering an elbow injury. Our last try was scored by Harry who also had the undignified pleasure of being our very first player to be sent off for 10 minutes

The final score was 10-5 to Tenby but that was the best the team has played this season, we were unlucky not to score 4 more with dropped balls on the try line and some unfortunate runs into touch 5 meters out. We need to work on our width play and some of our aggressive defence but everyone should feel proud of how well they played today. We had a few injuries throughout the game but every player picked themselves back up and wanted to come back on so that shows how well our toughness is progressing. I have to give a special mention to becca who made at least 3 try saving last man tackles today and showed how tough she has become! Well done everyone!!

As far as any training or games is concerned we have an option of a return game against Tenby in a week or two but it could possibly be a mid week evening kick off game but I will keep everyone informed when I know more, but if that doesn’t happen then we will see you all at the end of august where we will become the u10’s!!
