The mighty Llangwm u13’s travelled the short distance to near neighbours Haverfordwest for a game that hasn’t taken place for a few years but good to see Haverfordwest are back up and running again with a team. The wasps were playing on what can only be described as postage stamp of a pitch the was heavy underfoot so we had to adapt our game to suit the conditions. With 20 players available it gave us a great platform to get ourselves organised and ready to go, and the wasps started like they meant to go on, with Mason out speeding everything in front of him to go over, next up was our wrecking ball in Spencer, he continued to torment the opposition all game whether in defence or attack they just couldn’t cope with him and he blasted through to get his name on the board. Rowan again did his Rowan stuff and ran over instead of round players this time and bagged 2 tries. Hwest were struggling to get any go forward, they were constantly met by the ferocious yellow and black wall and tackle of the day went to Carwyn who flew up in defence and folded a blues player in half like a deck chair!! The lads were enjoying themselves and Bailey once again showed his huge improvement with several good carries and a again him and the ever improving Ryan make a great double act when they teamed up several times to make crucial tackles. The wasps were flowing well, the attack was on point with the Harry and ollie axis working well it fell to the maverick himself in Noah who dotted down against his old club and was a live wire all game 🫣 When the blues did get some ball retention they were constantly met with Llangwm players ready to win it back, led by captain George ( who got a knee to the…… ummmmm not sure how to describe it!) he bravely carried on and with Isaac who carried well today and the man who’s closest god with his line out in Ashton they carried the fight forward to the blues. Rowan got another after a brilliant offload from Harry to end the half. The wasps were well on top and cruising but now was not the time to stop, we had our foot down and we had to keep it floored. The second half started like the first, Mason again is hungry for tries and got over the line but it was a real team try that went east to west with at least 10 players touching the ball to get to that point. The player that really showcased what his old team was missing was Stan, this boy is absolutely remarkable in attack and defence, he carried like an animal and stopped everything that was in his channel 💪 but there was also another that really stepped up today and with a point to prove in Louie, the angles he ran in the pod system were outstanding and he made good meters every time he was on the ball 🫡 The wasps kept piling forward and Spencer grabbed another when the blues defence wanted no part of him and Rowan grabbed another after a brilliant catch by Nico who never drops a ball no matter how crap the pass is to him, his hand eye coordination is something to behold and he got Rowan away for his fourth, duly converted by a player that got his first points in Llangwm shirt in Jack Riley, Jacko showed what he can bring to this team with direct running but his tackling is a joy to watch and a huge asset! Seth didn’t see much at full back today but that’s almost a good thing as the players infront of him were doing such a good job and Ollie E showed his his awareness with counter rucks when others didn’t see it to keep the pressure on, and that pressure comes in spades from another former blues player in Albert, we have no words for Albert apart from amazing, there are no other 9’s in the county that play like this lad, he personified pressure today, he has this no nonsense attitude that he carries into games and puts himself in harms way constantly! The wasps kept going and going and going and Rowan bagged another couple thanks to some good work at the breakdown to secure the ball by Morgan to shows us again he’s one of the best at the breakdown and some really tidy carries by Ollie H who always plays at 120% and never shirks the contact the wasps were 60-0 up and with 7 minutes to go the referee called time as the blues were out on their feet but have to be applauded for spending nearly the entire game defending but keep going none the less. Full time Llangwm 60 Haverfordwest 0 A fantastic effort from the boys today, there were a few nervous faces early doors from a few boys facing there old club but once that whistle went they were on it straight away and they never let up. There were loads of positives from the opposition coaches and parents to how well the boys played and how well they did. Another step forward and another one chalked off, but we can wait to play the blues on a proper size pitch!!! Well done everyone, once again the parents on our side were twice the size of the blues so it goes to show how well supported we are and the dedication they are showing to the boys and we would like to thank you for the loud and proud support 🖤💛 no game next week but training as usual 🐝 thanks everyone, legends as always Team: Stan, Mason, Ashton, Spencer, Morgan, Carwyn, Isaac, Bailey, Ryan, Louie, George, Nico, Rowan, Harry, Ollie H, Seth, Noah, Albert, Jack R, Ollie E Tries: Rowan 5, Spencer, 2, Mason 2, Noah 1 Conversions: Ollie H 4, Jack R 1 🤣🤣 Final score: Haverfordwest 0 Llangwm 60
