Great Second Half v Haverfordwest

Llangwm 36 - Haverfordwest 41

Josh Hicks ended a terrific season for Llangwm as the No 8 grabbed three tries but still ended up on the losing side against a Haverfordwest side which seemed in charge at half time as they led 31-3 but took their foot off the pedal as The Wasps gained two bonus points for their part in an entertaining tussle.

Craig Barnett gave Haverfordwest an early lead with a penalty before he scored a try which he also converted, as he did with other tries from Gareth Owen, Rhys Baker and Jamie Barnett.

Llangwm’s only reply was a penalty from George Evans, playing on permit from Neyland, but The Wasps showed real resilience after the oranges as Ben Goodridge scored a try to join Hicks on the scoresheet.

Cole Barry and Matty Phillips crossed the whitewash for The Blues as fortunes ebbed and flowed with both sides throwing the ball about in their final match of the campaign but Hicks and Will Scriven responded for the home side, the former taking his try count for the campaign to an impressive 20 in the process.

It still ended up with the Blues edging home but the spirit that exists between these old rivals revealed itself as as the visitors again donated to the Eliza Scriven Appeal Fund and referee Geoff Williams, a Haverfordian before he became Head of Sport at BBC Wales, also donated his match fee to round off a positive end to the season in both camps!

Llangwm: Joe Kiff: Ben Goodridge; Lewis Murphy; George Evans; Ewan Griffiths:  Jonathan Lloyd; Ian Griffiths: Will Scriven; Gethin Thomas (Capt); Ieuan Power: Dave Reynolds; Jason Mock: James Lewis (Whitland); James Lewis; Josh Hicks. Replacements: Dan Hughes; Dan Morgan; Gavin Jones; Phil Llewellyn.
