U12's v Pembroke 14th. Jan. 2024

The mighty wasps u12’s took on Pembroke this morning on a foggy Pill Parks, but with the pitch in good condition and the crowd occupying the stands they were treated to 50 minutes of captivating rugby. Pembroke are the second best team in the group and after having lost 49-0 the last time the wasps were up for the challenge.
Pembroke kicked off and straight away were aggressive in attack, the wasps won the ball back and it found its way into the hands of Rowan who made a brilliant run and beat the entire Pembroke defence to score under the posts, harry duly converted. Come on boys!!
Unfortunately Pembroke immediately replied with a try of there own but that didn’t deter Noah Evans who made a brilliant run down the wing only to be stopped short by the Pembroke full back and the wasps were unable to support his run and lost the ball 😩
We then lost our captain and number 10 Harry to concussion and then lost our hooker George to a combination of a broken tooth and a knock to the head, with such key players hurt there was a re shuffle in the team but this ruined our flow and Pembroke scored 3 more tries without reply to put the wasps under pressure.
The second half saw a better response from llangwm with some good meters made by Ollie and Ryan D and Stan was there for good support along with big tackles and Isaac was man possessed in the chase down but he lacked any good support due to his deceptively quick speed! The wasps saw much more of the ball but Pembroke did well in winning it at the breakdown and added to injuries to Seth and Noah E they scored a few more tries to give the wasps a tough morning but the match was finished off with a moment of magic from Rowan who went full sod it and took on the entire Pembroke defence and beat them all to score under the posts, Ollie then duly converted!
Full time…. Pembroke 39- Llangwm 14
That was a much better display from the boys today considering the injuries we had and the fact we got hammered the last time we played them, but they all kept going and gave there best against a good team but we know what we need to work on if we are going to take on these good teams. Well done boys, it was a solid effort but we can do better 💪
It was also a milestone event in the fact that we could now use the clubhouse for the first time since under 7’s. To see all the boys and parents back there after years of hotdogs was absolutely fantastic! The kids and the parents made great use of the club and they all enjoyed themselves in such a fantastic place. A massive thanks to Dan Chesmer and Nick Hughes for making this happen, Rhiannon James for putting up with my endless moaning that the club should be open for the kids!! And of course Jason O'callaghan, Jade Davies,  Laura Claire  and Mollie for manning and running the club for all the players and parents, you did an amazing job and we are all really grateful for your hard work and commitment to the boys ❤️
Thanks everyone, see you Friday for training 🖤💛
