Earlier today our Mighty U8s made the journey to the north of the county to play St Davids where we were warmly welcomed but lost out narrowly on what was a closely fought game.
St Davids themselves had good numbers with approximately 15 players available to them, made up from across their U8s and U7s.  Due to sickness and some unavailability, your Mighty Llangwm U8s travelled with only seven players,  which meant that we would play without the luxury of substitutions and fresh legs.  The ground was heavy, the wind was strong but the Wasps came to play rugby!
We played three 10minute thirds and were captained by Sion, on his debut for Llangwm, who also ran in a hattrick of tries! Every player did brilliantly today and did their bit to play together as a team.  Important try-saving tags were made and turnover ball won.  Our efforts in training, where we’re working on our passing on the move and cutting back in from the touchline, are working well with players putting this to good use during today’s game.  Our passing enabled us to make good ground up the pitch and we saw good pressure in defence, protecting our try line against fresh waves of attacks from St Davids.
This really was a monumental effort from the seven players who played today.  Without any availability of subs, every player kept on going until the final whistle, even when playing up the slope for two of the three thirds! It was great to see their smiling faces in the clubhouse afterwards and the sharing of tales of the game just played….they thoroughly deserved their TWO hotdogs in the clubhouse afterwards!!! 
This is a great group of kids who are really playing for each other and it’s great to see how much progress they are making together.  We hope you’ve been enjoying a well-earned restful Sunday afternoon and we look forward to seeing everyone back at training on Wednesday evening.
