U7's District Tag Festival Apr 2019

The mighty wasps u7’s went to Pembroke this morning for the Pembrokeshire district tag festival. Played in glorious sunshine in front of a large crowd there were 10 teams in all competing to get to finals day. We had 5 x10 minute games against teams from all over the county and first up we played Pembroke. The team made a good start against a similar small fast team and recorded a great 4-2 win against them with tries from Harry, jack James and 2 excellent tries from Nico who had a great game! Next up was Crymych and both sides were evenly matched and it was an open flowing game with some really good tagging on show from Llangwm but they went down to a 5-4 loss with Crymych scoring at the death, tries from Carwyn, Dylan and 2 lung bursting tries from mason was quite enough to see us through. Next up was a very good Fishguard side who had shown they were a force to be reckoned with in there earlier games and unfortunately were to strong for the young wasps who missed a few tags that made all the difference and we went down to a 5-2 defeat but tries from mason and jack James put us in the scoreboard. The fourth game was agains narbeth who had some good individual players but the young wasps were more than up to the task against this good side and played arguably there best game and came away with a 4-4 draw with tries from Nico, a great individual try from Becca and again mason with two who was on fire all day! Our last game was against st David’s and by now the young team were staring to tire after a long day but still put in a monumental effort with a few turn over balls but a great individual try by one saints player made the difference and we went down. To a 4-3 defeat, our try’s came from mason and Dylan x2 who had his best game all day with a couple of well worked try’s.
So unfortunately we won’t have qualified for the finals but the young team showed great spirit in all there games and showed that when they are on song there a team to be reckoned with and they are a credit to the jersey they wear. Many thanks to all the parents today who brought the team and stayed all day and to the few who made a massive effort to get the kids there even though they were meant to be doing something else!! Myself and
Brendan O'Loughlin are really proud of all of you today and the effort you showed and the way you conducted yourselves through out the day. Look forward to seeing you all Wednesday for training where we can keep working on our tactics.

Team. George, mason, harry, Osian, jack James, Becca, Tommie, Dylan, Jac, Carwyn, Gethin
