U8's Tag Festival 14th April 2019

The wasps u8’s travelled this morning to a bloody cold and bloody windy whitland for the end of season tag festival in front of an equally cold crowd the wasps played an unbelievable 6 x 10 minute games against teams from all over the county.

First up for the wasps was the similar jersey wearing st David’s, Llangwm came out of the blocks fast and scored straight from kick off and kept that momentum going throughout the game with some good runs to record a 6-5 victory with tries from olly, Rudy, Sebastian and 3 tries from aneirian who had a great game!
Next up was Pembroke for the young side, a few costly missed tags put the team on the back foot early on and they could never get a foot hold in the game but never stopped battling but went down to a 5-3 defeat with our tries coming from aneirian, Sebastian and Rudy.
Next up was a very physical and strong neyland side who unfortunately overwhelmed the smaller Llangwm side and some dropped passes meant neyland scored 3 tries from there own there own try line, even through we lost 7-0 the team would have learnt a lot from this.
Next up was whitland and by now the young team were starting to carry a few injuries but they battled on well against another side with size advantage and some good tries from olly, aneirian and Dylan gave us plenty of hope but some quick tries from whitland towards the end proved the difference and they went down 6-3.
Our 5th game was against a Crymych side that had won all there previous games and again Enjoyed a considerable size advantage against us so it was another up hill battle but the team really tried hard to break down Crymych and got turned over 6 tags on the Crymych try line several times to show they could match them but a few good individual tries saw Crymych over the line to a 5-2 win but they had to work for it!
Our final game saw a tired and sore wasps take on local rivals Haverfordwest in an enthralling encounter, the team went out and gave every last ounce of energy they had to show the crowd what they were capable off and tries from Rudy ( who improved so much as the day went on ) aneirian, Dylan and an outstanding 5 tries from olly saw Llangwm to a brilliant 8-5 victory!!
A massive thank you to the parents who brought the team today, myself and
Brendan O'Loughlin are proud of this young team and the effort you all put in today in cold miserable conditions, no matter what you carried on till the bitter end and it payed off with a great win in the last game. I hope you all stick together when you move up age groups because you are a credit to Llangwm and to your parents.
A mention to as well for the u7’s who played up today you never looked overawed against some big opposition players and showed that you will be a force to be reckoned with when you are u8’s!!

Well done all!!!

Team today: Gethin, olly, Harry, aneirian, Dylan, Ethan James, Becca, Rudy, Sebastian.
