U15's v Aberystwyth 28th Jan 2024

Yesterday saw an early start for our U15s as we made the journey north to play Aberystwyth in the Cup quarter final. It was always going to be tough game against a very good team, and with some serious injuries and illness in the squad we were scrabbling for numbers.
As we have said before the attitude in this squad is awesome, and thanks to George playing with a bad chest infection we were able to start the game with 15 players on the field, and yet again this season it was a completely different XV starting out.
Llangwm started well and we had more of our fair share of possession, but we couldn't quite get the final pass into the right area of the field despite some telling carries and line breaks. A lucky break allowed Aber to open the scoring, quickly followed by a second (fortunate) try. Playing with more confidence Aber built up a 39 - 0 lead at half time.
A bit of a re-shuffle at half-time (following the departure of George) was a completely different game, and as we always do we stuck in and kept going throughout the entire game. Players grew more confident with ball in hand, our play got faster, and the penalty count started stacking against Aber. After getting the first try on the board our pressure was relentless, and after scoring 2 more, one of Aber's star players returned to the pitch to steady their ship.
Despite losing 65 - 24, we only lost the second half 26 -24 which shows how much potential there is in this very young squad.
It was a brilliant day out, and amazing to see all our injured players on the bus to support the boys. Aber were brilliant hosts and are eager to come and visit us later this season.
